Narayanganj-5 is a constituency represented in the Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament) of Bangladesh since 2026 by Abul Kalam of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.

Boundaries The constituency encompasses Narayanganj City Corporation wards 11-27 and Bandar Upazila.

History The constituency was created in 1984 from a Dhaka constituency when the former Dhaka District was split into six districts: Manikganj, Munshiganj, Dhaka, Gazipur, Narsingdi, and Narayanganj.

Ahead of the 2008 general election, the Election Commission redrew constituency boundaries to reflect population changes revealed by the 2001 Bangladesh census. The 2008 redistricting altered the boundaries of the constituency.

As of 2008, the constituency encompassed Narayanganj Municipality, Bandar Upazila and two union parishads of Narayanganj Sadar Upazila: Alirtek and Gognagar.

In 2011, Narayanganj City Corporation was formed by amalgamating three municipalities. Siddhriganj Municipality, in the north, became wards 1-9 of the new city. Narayanganj Municipality, in the south, became wards 10-18. Kadam Rasul Municipality, on the opposite bank of the Shitalakshya River, became wards 19-27.

For the 2014 general election, the commission described the constituency in terms of thanas, saying it encompassed two of the four thanas that made up Bandar Upazila, Narayanganj Sadar Upazila, and Narayanganj City Corportation: Bandar and Narayanganj. This change of nomenclature did not alter the geographical extent of the constituency.

Ahead of the 2018 general election, the Election Commission reduced the boundaries of the constituency by moving ward 10 of Naryanganj City Coporation to Narayanganj-4. What remained was Narayanganj City Corporation wards 11-27, Bandar Upazila, and two union parishads of Narayanganj Sadar Upazila: Alirtek and Gognagar.

In 2025, the Election Commission reduced the boundaries of the constituency by moving Alirtek and Gonagar union parishads to Naryanganj-4.
