Il giorno della Shoah is a 2010 Italian language television drama film written and directed by Pasquale Squitieri. The film stars Giorgio Albertazzi and Claudia Cardinale. It was largely filmed in Abruzzo, in the province of L'Aquila, shortly after the 2009 L'Aquila earthquake, with locations in the provincial capital and surrounding areas. It was broadcast on Rete 4 in January 2010 in connection with International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Plot In the 1940s, Alberto and his family are repeatedly persecuted because of the Italian racial laws, but they narrowly avoid deportation with the help of Nello Rotondi. Alberto develops a deep sense of gratitude toward the man who saved him and his family, and the two men form a strong bond that lasts a long time.

In L'Aquila of 2009, following the terrible Abruzzo earthquake, Alberto and his wife Ester wander around the ruins of the village of Casentino, searching for their friends, the Rotondi family, whose home has been destroyed. They eventually find them and are able to repay them for the help they received from them many years prior.
