Los viejos somos así is a 1948 Mexican comedy-drama film directed by Joaquín Pardavé, and starring Pardavé, alongside the Aguirre sisters, Elsa Aguirre and Alma Rosa Aguirre.

Plot Lidia (Alma Rosa Aguirre) works as a cashier at a bustling urban nightclub and cabaret. Desperate to help her smooth-talking boyfriend, an irresponsible gambler who frequents fronton betting games, she secretly takes a large sum of money directly from the establishment's cash register as a loan. However, the boyfriend loses all the money at the betting tables and vanishes from the city, leaving Lidia facing professional ruin and potential legal prosecution if the deficit is uncovered.

Seeking a way to rescue her friend from impending disaster, Dalia (Elsa Aguirre), a beautiful singer and dancer performing at the same cabaret, steps in to handle the crisis. Dalia turns to Roberto (Víctor Junco), a wealthy patron, to secure an urgent financial loan to cover the register's missing funds. This arrangement inadvertently draws the attention of Don Prudencio Sarasate (Joaquín Pardavé), a highly eccentric, wealthy older man who becomes deeply infatuated with Dalia and offers financial assistance in exchange for her affection. Through a series of card-playing face-offs, escalating romantic misunderstandings, and competing male ego games between the younger suitors and the persistent older gentleman, the local cabaret becomes a stage for chaos until the debts are finally settled and the true romantic pairings are sorted out.
